Four years ago Samantha – or as some friends call her, Sam – started the first ever youth Relay for Life team for Wicomico County, Maryland to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Through her energetic leadership and vision this effort has grown to 25 youth teams all competing against each other to help more people, raise more money, and even outperform the adult teams. Last year, the youth teams alone raised over $50,000 for Relay for Life and Sam's county had the most profitable per capita relay event in the country!
During last year's Relay for Life, Sam served as the chair for her high school team, and at this year's event in September, she served as the co-chair for all county youth.
Sam is currently a senior in high school and she'll be heading to college next year where she hopes to start a Relay for Life event with her fellow classmates.
Congratulations Sam!
