Christian "Storm": Sumter, SC

From volunteering at his local community center to performing at the Missoula Children's Theatre, Christian "Storm" has been serving as a positive role model in Sumter, SC since his family moved to the area in 1999.

His volunteer work has included helping out at the Green House Runaway Shelter, the Community Center on Shaw Air Force Base (where his parents are stationed) and at his church. Storm, who recently made rank of Eagle Scout, also volunteers at the Youth Center, helping out with programs such as family bingo, Easter egg hunts, youth fall festivals, book fairs, cook-offs and canned-food drives.

His passion for performing drove him to work with the Sumter Little Theatre, as well as the Missoula Children's Theatre. Since his freshman year in high school, Storm has been in over 30 plays – 22 in which he played the lead role – including Aladdin, Canterbury Tales, Inherit the Wind and The Christmas Bus.

At and away from school, Storm always gave 100%, despite all of his extracurricular activities, which ranged from the 4-H Club and the Ecology Club to performing as the "General Thomas Sumter" mascot at pep rallies and football games. All of his hard work and dedication landed him as the First Runner-Up for the Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year for the state of South Carolina.

Storm graduated from Thomas Sumter Academy in May of 2008 and currently attends the University of South Carolina-Sumter. He plans to transfer to the North Carolina School of the Arts next fall to concentrate on Theatre and Drama. In the meantime, he continues his community service, helping out wherever, and whenever, he can.

Congratulations Storm and keep up the great work!
