Sara Trail: Antioch, CA

Teen sewing sensation, Sara Trail first learned how to sew at the age of four when she used to help her mother work on quilts. Since the age of nine, she's been sharing her knowledge with her fellow classmates. That's right – she's been teaching teens and adults alike how to sew everything from clothing to quilts since she was nine years old.

Soon after learning how to sew, Sara started her own business designing, creating and selling her clothes and accessories to family and friends. She's even authored her own book titled Sew with Sara and now has her own 70-minute DVD Cool Stuff to Sew with Sara.

Sara currently spends her Saturday afternoons not at the mall or at the movie theater – but offering free private sewing lessons to girls who want to learn how to sew clothes, accessories, pillow covers and more. Her lessons give teens a fun, safe and educational way to spend their afternoons. Her success at sewing has even caught the attention of Bernina, the world's premier manufacturer of sewing machines, and she was recently endorsed by the 100-year-old company.

Sara feels that sewing gives her – and her fellow teens – a useful way to create something that's all her own, and a skill and discipline that will last a lifetime.
