How To Style And Build Your
Dream Bedroom Around Your Bedding
Everyone wants their bedroom at college to feel like "home away from home". Incorporating your personal style into your dorm room or apartment while also being efficient can be overwhelming and a lengthy process. It's hard to get the ball rolling on design visions you may have for you dream room. Where do you even begin?
My name is Chase Buckley and I am a rising junior at the University of Georgia. I've lived everywhere from dorm rooms, to a sorority house and now an apartment, and I understand how putting together your dream room can be a lot of work. I'm here to share with you some tips on how I created a room at school that speaks my style and feels cozy and just like home.

1. Start with a mood board
I love making mood boards to convert my ideas in my head into something tangible. I started by picking a color scheme for my bedroom, then picking a few items that stood out to me within that color scheme and that also matched other decor I already own. I then compiled all of that into a physical vision of what I wanted my bedroom to feel and look like.

2. Let your bedding be the center of your room
Bedding was the first item I chose for my apartment and what I based my dream room around. I love the Diamond Dream Duvet Cover because of the simple detailing and gray color. This bedding allows me to add fun pillows that show off my style, like the Fur-rific Lumbar Pillow Cover, and allow my bedding to be the focal point and basis of my room without being too flashy. With more simple bedding, you can pick decor that stands out more.
3. Choose decor that matches your color scheme and bedding
My favorite part of the design process.... decor! I've collected gray/white/blush decor over the years, but I always love freshening up the look with new items that radiate my style. The Merci Neon Mirror Wall Light really stood out to me because it matched my French theme, has a beautiful light gray color and is such a fun piece for my wall. This sign is unique, on-trend and is a great way add that extra touch to your room. It's one of my favorite items hanging on my wall.
Another item that tied my room decor together is the Style Tile Wooden Frame. You can do just about anything you want with this frame, but I chose to use a cable system and hang pictures. This frame is a statement piece and allows you to incorporate your own style and passions, like I did by printing images I love and then hanging them up inside the frame.
4. Pick storage you'll love
Maximizing your space in can be tough, but there are ways to store your stuff and also stay within your theme at the same time. I love the Closet Sweater Bins With Lid because they add a touch of simple style while also holding all of my essentials under my bed (these are great for the closet, too).
The No Nails Wall Organizer is also great because it holds pens, pencils, notepads and all your other school needs on the wall, so it doesn't take up any desk space.
I always find myself running out of closet space in my college living spaces. The Hanging Closet Double Bar Organizer is great for when you run out of extra space and need somewhere to store more clothing or accessories!

5. Don't forget fun extras
You can't have a homey room without some fun extras! I love wearing the Friday Always Robe while I'm getting ready in the morning or when I'm doing face masks with my roommates. It's great way to wind down after a long day of class. This robe is also perfect if you live in a communal bathroom setup at your school and need something to wear in the hallway while walking to and from the bathroom. A robe is definitely a college necessity many people forget about!
I hope you guys found these tips useful when designing your bedroom at school. Having a homey room at college really makes all the difference, especially when you're in a new place and away from home for the first time.
