How To Style A Small
Room In Your Apartment
There's something exciting about moving to a new apartment and getting to decorate. You have a clean slate. A blank canvas. Sometimes moving to a place with a small bedroom can be hard because you don't want to overdo the decorations and make your room looked cramped. Here's a few things I did to decorate my small room without overdoing it.
The Bed
Let's be honest, as a college student, I spend a lot of time in my bed. Between last-minute study sessions and binging shows on Hulu, my bed and I have spent plenty of quality time together. First, I started with the Tufted Dot Duvet Cover and the Tara Tassel Pillow Cover to give my bed a minimal yet cute look. These two pieces are the perfect shade of ivory and help brighten up the space. Adding something as simple as cute decorative pillows can help elevate any room.
I love to mix and match cute home decor pieces to transform my room into a cozy space. The Eye Mirror and the Lace Fabric Garland are super trendy pieces that took my room from drab to fab in an instant.
The Floor
Despite my efforts to make my room look bright and cozy, the gray carpet just made it look dark. The Supersoft Shearling Rug was such a great addition to eliminate the darkness of the carpet and brighten the room.
The Desk
Although I do spend a good amount of time in my bed, I also spend hours at my desk doing homework. Having a clean and cute desk gives me motivation to get things done. My desk also doubles as a vanity so having a mirror and a source of lighting was very important while decorating. Adding the Cork and Glass Task Lamp and Metal Framed Mirror to my desktop made it stylish yet functional.
Before I run out the door, I always make sure to some accessories to match my outfit. I used the No Nails Framed Pinboard to hang necklaces, earrings and sunglasses so I can just pick my essentials for the day and be on my way. This pinboard hack is a better option than having to dig around in a drawer for what I'm looking for.
