Minted x PBteen

Eliane Lamb

What's your story in a nutshell?

In my fieldwork as a geologist, I have always been in contact with nature, and photography was part of my life as a hobby. Then I changed my work area for a few years, going back to photography only in 2011, but still as a hobby and only publishing on social networks. Driven by dear friends, I started to participate in Minted Challenges in 2014. I was extremely happy with the Editor's Pick that I won, and this encouraged me to study and know more about photography. My studies allowed me to open paths that I did not see as possible before.

What's the story behind your "Swaying In The Wind" photograph?

This photograph is very special because I took it while on a trip with my son to visit my other daughter who lives in São Paulo. It was a special moment, and this photo conveys the emotion involved in this loving meeting.

Who is your favorite artist and why?

Brazil has wonderful artists, but the ones who inspire me and whom I consider my favorites are the photographers Sebastião Salgado and Araquém Alcântara. My favorite Minted artist is Bethania Lima, a surface pattern designer who puts her soul into her work.

Where and what inspires you when you are creating your work?

My main source of inspiration is nature, but I like to keep my eyes focused on new things in common places. Shapes, colors, and different luminosities catch my eye and inspire me.

What is your advice for artists who are just getting started?

Do not be ashamed to show your work to the world or think that it is too simple, or because you think there are thousands of people who do it better than you. Just follow your feeling.
